SEAL CURE-309-30
Concrete Curing and Sealing Compound

Description
SEAL CURE-309-30 is a clear, ready-to-use formula of styrene-acrylic polymers and quick evaporating solvents, which cures, seals, hardens and dustproofs freshly placed concrete surfaces, newly cured bare concrete and improves the wearability of aged concrete surfaces. SEAL CURE-309-30 meets maximum VOC content limits of 700 g/L for Concrete Curing and Sealing Compounds as required by the U.S. EPA Architectural Coatings Rule.

When properly applied, SEAL CURE-309-30 provides an impermeable seal for superior moisture retention, producing harder, denser concrete. It also provides a durable, long-lasting moisture impermeable finish that improves resistance to chemicals, oil, grease, de-icing salts and abrasion. The use of SEAL CURE-309-30 will help minimize hair checking as well as premature cracking, dusting, spalling and other common defects that result when the concrete is not properly cured, or the workmanship, air entrainment and water/cement ratios vary. SEAL CURE-309-30 is easy and economical to use and apply. It dries quickly to protect new exterior concrete surfaces during construction. When used on existing concrete, SEAL CURE-309-30 restores surfaces to a newer and brighter appearance, allowing easier cleaning and maintenance.

Uses
SEAL CURE-309-30 may be used on freshly placed and finished exterior concrete surfaces, aged concrete surfaces, and concrete walls. It is ideal for use on industrial and commercial concrete surfaces, sidewalks, parking decks, driveways, etc., or any place a medium-sheen finish is desired. SEAL CURE-309-30 can be applied to colored concrete, but mottling may occur.

For interior applications, specify and apply VOCOMP®-20 or VOCOMP-25 Curing and Sealing Compounds from W. R. MEADOWS. (Refer to Product Data Sheet Nos. 368-A & 368-B).

APPLICATION
Surface Preparation
Existing (Old) Concrete: Concrete surface must be clean and dry with all stains, oil, grease, dust and dirt removed prior to application. We recommend ULTRITE® DEGREASER from W. R. MEADOWS for cleaning. New Concrete: SEAL CURE-309-30 should be applied when surface water has completely disappeared and the concrete surface will not be marred by walking workmen.

Application Method …Use a sprayer or short-nap roller to apply a uniform film. Avoid puddling in low areas …if puddles occur, brush or roll them out. A standard industrial-grade sprayer, equipped with a neoprene hose and gaskets, as well as a 9505-E spray tip (or equivalent) is recommended for best results. For optimum performance, apply first coat at 600 sq. ft./gal. After the first coat has thoroughly dried, apply a second coat at 600 sq.ft./gal. NOTE: The second coat should be applied at a right angle.

Coverage*
300-600 sq.ft./gal.(7.37-14.73 sq.m./L).
*Coverage may vary due to porosity and condition of concrete

Drying Time …SEAL CURE-309-30 dries quickly. Drying times may be extended depending on application rate, temperature, humidity and project conditions. Restrict foot traffic for at least four hours...12 hours is preferable.

Clean up...Application equipment should be cleaned promptly after use with Xylene or Toluene.

Precautions
DO NOT DILUTE. FOR EXTERIOR APPLICATION ONLY. Surfaces treated with SEAL CURE-309-30 may become slippery under certain conditions.

SEAL CURE-309-30 should not be applied during high temperature conditions in direct sunlight. These conditions cause rapid evaporation, which does not allow the film to form properly. Under these conditions, the film may peel, bubble and/or turn white (blush). SEAL CURE-309-30 should not be applied to concrete exposed to excessive moisture. Entrapped moisture in a solvent-based sealer may cause the film to peel and/or turn white (blush).

Do not apply SEAL CURE-309-30 if the temperature of the concrete is below 40ºF (4ºC). SEAL CURE-309-30 may be used on colored concrete, but mottling may occur. Do not use on dense or non-porous surfaces, i.e. brick, stone, etc. Concrete containing calcium chloride will remain dark longer when treated with SEAL CURE-309-30. Concrete floors properly cured with SEAL CURE-309-30 meet section 8.9 "Adhesion of Tile Cements" of ASTM C 1315. For other specifications, secure the approval of the paint or resilient flooring manufacturer before applying SEAL CURE-309-30. ASTM C 1315, Class B products may discolor under ceratin conditions. The specifier and user shall determine the suitability of product for specific applications and assume all responsibility in connection therewith.

Health Hazards
Prolonged inhalation of vapors in excess of permissible exposure limits may result in symptoms of transient central nervous system depression. Direct contact with the product may result in irritation of the skin and eyes. Product vapors may also cause irritation. SEAL CURE-309-30 is combustible. Remove ignition sources prior to use. Empty containers may hold combustible vapors. Handle empty containers as combustible liquids. In the event of a spill, contain the product; apply absorbents and place in sealed containers. In the event of a fire, contain all run-off water. Refer to Material Safety Data Sheet for complete health and safety information.
