as required by the U.S. EPA Architectural Coatings Rule. It is
red to reddish-brown in color and is furnished in 1-gallon (3.79

VOC Primer to concrete to simultaneously prepare and dustproof
new and old, vertical and horizontal surfaces in one easy, economical
operation. Use MEL-PRIME S/B VOC on all concrete surfaces to receive
applications of MEL-GARD®, MEL-ROL®, MEL-DEK and/or AIR-SHIELD Waterproofing Membranes from W. R. MEADOWS.
Features and Benefits:
APPLICATION
Surface Preparation...Concrete
should be cured at least 72 hours, be clean, dry, smooth and free
of all voids. Repair spalled areas, fill all voids and remove
sharp protrusions. For additional surface preparation requirements,
see instructions for applying MEL-GARD, MEL-ROL, MEL-DEK and/or
AIR-SHIELD Waterproofing Membranes.
NOTE: Metal surfaces must be primed. They must also be
clean, dry and free of loose paint, rust or other contaminants.
Method of Application...Apply
MEL-PRIME S/B VOC with a roller or brush at a coverage rate of
250 to 300 sq. ft./gal. (6.14 to 7.37 sq. m./liter). Prime only
the area to be covered with the waterproofing membrane during
the work day. Areas not covered with a membrane in 24 hours must
be re-primed.
Drying time...Allow to dry for one hour or until
the primed surface feels tacky but does not pick up when touched.
If the work area is very dusty, apply membrane as soon as possible
after MEL-PRIME S/B VOC is dry.
Clean-Up..MEL-PRIME
Solvent-Base VOC Primer may be cleaned with mineral spirits.
PRECAUTIONS
Do not apply MEL-PRIME Solvent-Base VOC Primer when
rain is imminent, or on damp or frost covered surfaces. Avoid
allowing MEL-PRIME S/B VOC to puddle this will lengthen
drying time. Do not dilute, use "as is."
