MEL-PRIME N.E.
SOLVENT-BASE VOC PRIMER

DESCRIPTION
MEL-PRIME N.E. solvent-base VOC primer is a ready-to-use primer specifically formulated to meet the maximum VOC content limits of 200 g/L for quick dry primers as required by VOC regulations recently implemented in the northeastern U.S. It is red to reddish-brown in color and is furnished in one-gallon (3.79 liter) cans or five-gallon (18.93 liter) pails.

USES
Apply MEL-PRIME N.E. solvent-base VOC primer to concrete to simultaneously prepare and dustproof new, old, vertical and horizontal surfaces in one easy, economical operation. Use MEL-PRIME N.E. on all concrete surfaces to receive applications of MEL-ROL®, MEL-DEK™ , and/or AIR-SHIELD™ from W. R. MEADOWS.

FEATURES/BENEFITS
  • High solids for optimum performance.
  • Ready to use ... no mixing or dilution required.
  • For exterior vertical and horizontal applications.
  • Low VOC content …less than 200 g/ L.

PACKAGING
1 Gallon (3.79 liter) Can
5 Gallon (18.9 liter) Pail

COVERAGE
150 to 250 sq. ft./gal. (3.68 to 6.14 sq. m/L)

APPLICATION
Surface Preparation...
Concrete should be cured at least 72 hours, be clean, dry, smooth and free of all voids. Repair spalled areas, fill all voids and remove sharp protrusions. For additional surface preparation requirements, see instructions for applying MEL-ROL, MEL-DEK, and/or AIR-SHIELD.

NOTE: Metal surfaces must be primed. They must also be clean, dry and free of loose paint, rust or other contaminants.

Method of Application ... Apply MEL-PRIME N.E. with a roller or brush at a coverage rate of 150 to 250 sq. ft./gal (3.68 to 6.14 sq. m/ L). Prime only the area to be covered with the membrane during the working day. Areas not covered with a membrane in 24 hours must be re-primed.

Drying Time ... Allow to dry for one to two hours, or until the primed surface feels tacky, but does not pick up when touched. If the work area is very dusty, apply membrane as soon as possible after MEL-PRIME N.E. is dry.

Clean Up ... MEL-PRIME N.E. solvent-base VOC primer may be cleaned with mineral spirits.

PRECAUTIONS
Do not apply MEL-PRIME N.E. solvent-base VOC primer when rain is imminent, or on damp or frost-covered surfaces. Avoid allowing MEL-PRIME N.E. to puddle – this will lengthen drying time. Do not dilute; use as is.
