DECRA-SEAL™ PLUS
Dual Action, Non-Yellowing Curing & Sealing Compound for Decorative Concrete (VOC-Compliant)

DESCRIPTION
DECRA-SEAL PLUS is a unique, dual-action, non-yellowing, high solids, liquid curing and sealing compound for decorative concrete.  The product is clear, transparent, and easy to apply.  DECRA-SEAL PLUS offers improved resistance to water, alkalis, mild acids, and petroleum spirits.  The product has been formulated to penetrate, seal, and protect decorative concrete utilizing a proprietary, dual-action, chemically reactive formulation.

The dual-action system in DECRA-SEAL PLUS is able to penetrate the concrete matrix, allowing the moisture present to initiate a chemical reaction which helps to form a water-repellent resin within the pores of the concrete.  The reaction rate is further accelerated in the highly alkaline environment found within the concrete.  DECRA-SEAL PLUS also remains on the surface to produce a hard, dense acrylic film.  This unique formulation produces a two-stage protective system against the ingress of moisture, salts, and other contaminants.  DECRA-SEAL PLUS meets the 350 g/L VOC limit for concrete curing compounds.

USES
DECRA-SEAL PLUS is designed for various applications, including exterior concrete surfaces, driveways, patios, swimming pool areas, exposed aggregate, basements, as well as any exterior surface where protection and sealing of concrete is desired.  The use of DECRA-SEAL PLUS   on any exterior concrete surface provides a durable, long-lasting finish that has improved resistance to chemicals, oil, grease, de-icing, salts and abrasions.

APPLICATION
Surface Preparation … Apply as soon as all surface water has disappeared and the concrete surface will not be marred by walking workers.  Surface to receive sealer must be dry and free of contaminants.  Remove all stains or discolourations.

Application Method … Apply using low-pressure sprayer.  An 110° fan pattern spray tip rated at 1.8 L (1.0 gpm) provides an excellent even coating.  Please contact sprayer manufacturer to ensure suitability of sprayer with product.

Product should not be applied during high temperature conditions in direct sunlight.  These conditions cause rapid evaporation, which does not allow the film to form properly. Under these conditions, the film may peel, bubble, and/or turn white (blush).

Apply product as soon as all surface water has disappeared and the concrete surface will not be marred by walking workmen.  Apply evenly over entire surface; avoid puddling in low areas.  Restrict foot traffic for at least four hours.  Twelve hours is preferred.

Product should not be applied to concrete containing excessive moisture.  Entrapped moisture in a solvent-based sealer may cause the film to peel and/or turn white (blush).

Additional coats may be applied once a previous coat has dried.

For optimum protection, apply a further coating of the product and/or apply a coating of HIAC™, or HIAC-PLUS Note: Concrete must be a minimum of seven days old prior to the application of HIAC or HIAC-PLUS.

Note:  In cases when product is applied to existing concrete surfaces (more than 28 days old), the variations in colouration of the sands and aggregate present in the existing surface may be enhanced, causing the surface to appear discoloured.

Drying Time … Product dries quickly.  Drying times may be extended depending on application rate, temperature, humidity, and project conditions.  Restrict foot traffic for at least four hours.  Twelve hours is preferable.

Cleanup … Clean tools after use with a solvent such as SEALTIGHT SOLVENT, xylene, or toluol.

PRECAUTIONS
For industrial use only.  Apply without dilution or thinning VOC content of the product. FOR EXTERIOR APPLICATION ONLY.

Do not apply DECRA-SEAL PLUS if the temperature of the concrete is below 4º C (40º F).  DECRA-SEAL PLUS is designed for coloured concrete, but mottling may occur. Do not use on dense or non-porous surfaces, i.e. brick, stone, etc.  Do not use DECRA-SEAL PLUS as a waterproofing sealer on masonry surfaces.

Do not use DECRA-SEAL PLUS on areas to receive further coatings or toppings.  DECRA-SEAL PLUS may inhibit the bond of coatings and adhesives.

Concrete containing calcium chloride will remain dark longer when treated with DECRA-SEAL PLUS.  The specifier and user shall determine the suitability of product for specific applications and assume all responsibility in connection therewith.

DECRA-SEAL PLUS is a membrane-forming sealer.  All membrane-forming sealers may darken concrete or magnify imperfections caused by variations in the porosity and/or finishing of the concrete.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
Avoid direct contact with this product, as it may cause irritation of the eyes and/or skin.  Inhalation of vapours may result in transient central nervous system depression. DECRA-SEAL PLUS is flammable.  DECRA-SEAL PLUS should not be utilized in locations where food items are present.  Refer to Material Safety Data Sheet for complete health and safety information.
