SEAL CURE/25
Curing and Sealing Compound

DESCRIPTION
SEAL CURE/25 is an economical, high solids formulation of acrylic polymers and a quick-evaporating solvent.  When applied on freshly placed concrete surfaces, the product forms a tough, uniform, moisture-retentive film for simultaneous curing and sealing.

USES
SEAL CURE/25 is ideal for curing and sealing newly placed concrete, vertical or horizontal applications, when a high solids and high water retentive seal, yielding superior curing efficiency, is desired.

SEAL CURE-25 is suitable for commercial and industrial applications such as sidewalks, patios, driveways, and multi-level parking decks.  It provides a durable finish that increases resistance to chemicals, oils, grease, de-icing salts, and abrasion.

FEATURES/BENEFITS

  • Permeable film allows moisture in cured concrete to evaporate.
  • Retains mix water in concrete to permit complete hydration of the cement paste for hard, dense concrete.
  • Helps minimize hair-checking, thermal cracking, dusting, and other defects.
  • Excellent moisture retention properties.
  • Can be recoated after thorough cleaning of the existing surface.
  • Accepts chlorinated rubber and oil-based paints and most flooring adhesives.

PRECAUTIONS
Use only when concrete surfaces are above 5°C (40°F) and only after all surface water sheen has disappeared.

Allow 24 hours before application in very high humidity conditions.

SEAL CURE/25 will temporarily darken concrete; lightens to normal concrete colour in 6 to 12 months.

Keep vapours away from foodstuffs.

SEAL CURE/25 is not resistant to aromatic solvents; will not resist spillage of lead free gasoline.

SEAL CURE/25 is flammable.  Keep away from heat and open flame.

Do not use as a substitute sealer where coloured concrete shakes require colour-matched sealers.

STANDARDS
  • ASTM C 309, Type 1, Class A & B.
  • ASTM C 1315 Type 1, Class A.
  • AASHTO M 148, Type 1, Class B.

DATA
Coverage

Broomed surface 4.9 m²/L (240 ft.²/gal.)
Trowelled surface up to 14.7 m²/L (720 ft.²/gal.)
Coverage is approximate and depends on the porosity of the surface.

Packaging
18.9 litre pails and 205 litre drums

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
New Concrete... Apply as soon as all surface water has disappeared and the concrete surface will not be marred by walking workers.

SEAL CURE-25 should not be applied during high temperature conditions in direct sunlight.  These conditions cause rapid evaporation, which does not allow the film to form properly. Under these conditions, the film may peel, bubble, and/or turn white (blush).

SEAL CURE/25 should not be applied to concrete exposed to excessive moisture.  Entrapped moisture in a solvent-based sealer may cause the film to peel and/or turn white (blush).

Existing Concrete … Surface to receive sealer must be dry and free of contaminants.  Remove all stains or discolourations.

Application Equipment … Apply by low pressure sprayer equipped with neoprene hose and gaskets.  An 80° fan pattern spray tip rated at 1.8 litres per minute provides an excellent even coating.  The product can also be applied by long-nap roller, soft bristle broom, or lamb's wool applicator.

Additional coats may be applied once a previous coat has dried.  Avoid puddling in low areas.  Restrict foot traffic for at least four hours.  Twelve hours is preferable.

CLEANUP
Clean tools after use with a solvent such as SEALTIGHT SOLVENT, xylene, or toluol.

SAFETY AND TOXICITY
Contains solvent.  Use with adequate ventilation and avoid prolonged breathing of vapours that may cause dizziness or suffocation.  Avoid contact with skin and/or eyes.  See product label and Material Safety Data Sheet for additional information.  Read and follow all instructions and precautions.  Harmful or fatal if swallowed.
