HIAC-PLUS
Acrylic Concrete Sealer

DESCRIPTION
HIAC-PLUS acrylic concrete sealer is an acrylic co-polymer solution that dries to a clear, colourless, abrasion-resistant film.  It is highly resistant to stains, acid, oil, grease, most industrial chemicals, and de-icing salts, and will not yellow the concrete.

USES
HIAC-PLUS provides protection of old or new concrete from weather, chemical attack, staining, and dusting.  HIAC-PLUS imparts a medium-to-high sheen, dependent upon the number of coats applied, which enhances the natural concrete colour.

Suitable applications include concrete driveways, patios, exposed aggregate panels, and interlocking concrete pavers - all exterior cementitious surfaces.

HIAC-PLUS may be applied over CS-309™ curing and sealing compound from W. R. MEADOWS after the concrete has cured at least seven days to give a highly effective curing and sealing system.

HIAC-PLUS may be re-applied as traffic patterns appear.

FEATURES/BENEFITS
  • Permeable film allows moisture in cured concrete to evaporate.
  • High acrylic content for positive weatherproofing, stainproofing, and dustproofing qualities.
  • High resistance to oil, grease, de-icing salts;  hydrochloric, acetic, and sulphuric acids;  caustic sodas and most industrial chemicals and aliphatic solvents.
  • High or medium sheen  -  Quick drying.
  • Floors sealed with HIAC-PLUS can later be painted (consult reputable paint manufacturer for compatibility) or covered with resilient flooring, if desired.

STANDARDS
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada accepted.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Product container provides all application information.  Read and follow all instructions and precautions.

Concrete must be clean and dry prior to HIAC-PLUS application.  Remove stains and discolourations.

New concrete should be properly cured for a minimum of seven days prior to HIAC-PLUS application. (CS-309 is compatible.)

Avoid application on pavers, on-grade, during midday periods of direct hot sunlight or periods of high humidity.  Apply in late afternoon or when sun is obscured by clouds.

Protect grass, shrubs, etc. from the solvents in HIAC-PLUS.

Apply by spray, brush, or lamb's wool applicator in a uniform film.

For greater sheen, apply additional coats after preceding coat has dried.  Avoid over-application and excessive build-up.

Avoid puddling in low areas.  Restrict foot traffic for at least four hours.  Twelve hours is preferable.

HIAC-PLUS should not be applied during high temperature conditions in direct sunlight.  These conditions cause rapid evaporation, which does not allow the film to form properly.  Under these conditions, the film may peel, bubble, and/or turn white (blush).

HIAC-PLUS should not be applied to concrete exposed to excessive moisture.  Entrapped moisture in a solvent-based sealer may cause the film to peel and/or turn white (blush).

*Note:  In cases when HIAC-PLUS is applied to existing concrete surfaces (more than 28 days old), the variations in coloration of the sands and aggregate present in the existing surface may be enhanced, causing the surface to appear discoloured.

CLEANUP
Clean tools after use with a solvent such as SEALTIGHT SOLVENT, xylol or toluol.

PRECAUTIONS
Use only when concrete surface temperature is above 5°C (40°F) and surface is completely dry. Remove existing curing compounds (except CS-309; see above) before application. Keep vapours away from foodstuffs. Not resistant to aromatic solvents. Will not resist spillage of lead-free gasoline. Will temporarily darken concrete; lightens to normal concrete colour in 6 - 12 months.  HIAC-PLUS is flammable. Keep away from heat and open flame. Avoid prolonged contact with skin. Use with adequate ventilation and avoid prolonged breathing of vapour.

SAFETY AND TOXICITY
Contains solvent.  Use with adequate ventilation and avoid prolonged breathing of vapours that may cause dizziness or suffocation.  Avoid contact with skin and/or eyes.  See product label and Material Safety Data Sheet for additional information.  Read and follow all instructions and precautions.

Harmful or fatal if swallowed.
