800 CONSTRUCTION GROUT
DESCRIPTION
800 CONSTRUCTION GROUT is a pre-blended Portland cement grout containing non-ferrous admixtures to counteract plastic and drying shrinkage. The product complies fully with ASTM C827 test specifications for non-shrink grout. 800 CONSTRUCTION GROUT is formulated using admixtures recommended for non-shrink grout by the U.S. Corps of Engineers and American Concrete Institute (ACI) publications. There are no corrosive or unstable ingredients in 800 CONSTRUCTION GROUT.
USES
800 CONSTRUCTION GROUT is ideal for every phase of structural grouting which includes structural members, bridge seats, machinery bases, crane rails, anchorage systems, underpinning and concrete repairs. Two mixes are available, depending on water addition.
The dry pack grout mix is suitable for grouting column bases, small machine bases, underpinning, patching cracks in concrete or masonry walls, abutments, tanks, etc., and as a surface seal preliminary to penetration grouting of deep interior void by pressure grouting.
The flowable concrete mix involves the addition of gravel aggregate and may be used wherever the grout thickness or individual volumes are larger than usual. Typical applications include filling of pipe boxes where the space between the pipe and wall section is over 150 mm (6″) The mix can be also used for machine or structural column base plates where the space between foundation concrete and bedplate exceeds 150 mm (6″).
FEATURES/BENEFITS
- Versatile in use; may be pumped, packed, or poured.
- Allows ample time for mixing, transporting, and placing.
- No special measures are necessary to preserve stability.

APPLICATION
Surface Preparation … Foundation concrete to receive grout must be roughened, cleaned of all foreign matter and laitance, and thoroughly water saturated. All freestanding water should be blown clear just prior to placing grout.
Application Method … The mix should contain only enough water to form a cohesive ball when squeezed tightly in the hand. Mixing should be done by hand using a shovel and wheelbarrow or mortar box. Water should be sprinkled over the dry material and turned into the mix thoroughly using a shovel. See water mix rations above. The mixed grout must be rammed in place with a metal or hardwood tool. Discard mixed grout not rammed in place within one hour of initial preparation.
Extending … For exceptionally thick sections [4″ (101.6 mm) and over], 800 CONSTRUCTION GROUT should be cut 50% with pea gravel or 9.5 mm (3/8″) crushed stone.
Curing … Cure 800 CONSTRUCTION GROUT immediately following application using a suitable curing compound from W. R. MEADOWS, or in accordance with ACI 308. 1100, 1220-WHITE, CS-309™ series, or VOCOMP®-25 from W. R. MEADOWS are recommended. When conditions exist for rapid early water loss, the use of EVAPRE™, an evaporation retarder from W. R. MEADOWS, is also recommended.
PRECAUTIONS
Compressive strength will vary with the amount of mixing water used and with ambient temperatures during curing. Specimens for compressive strength should be taken in 50.8 mm (2″) brass cube molds under total confinement and according to CRD-C 621 procedures. Less flowable consistencies will exhibit high strengths. Ambient temperatures during placing may vary from 4° C to over 30° C. At normal temperatures the working time or pot life is one full hour. Slightly accelerated or retarded working time will apply when working in hot or cool conditions respectively. Moderate vibration and agitation of the fresh grout is permitted.
