825 PARGE-ALL
Pre-Mixed Parging
DESCRIPTION
825 PARGE-ALL is a single-component sand/cement blend designed for coating or parging vertical surfaces. 825 PARGE-ALL is a pre-mixed blend of sand, cement, chemical admixtures, polypropylene fibre, and acrylic cement modifiers. The acrylic modifiers in 825 PARGE-ALL make it very well suited for the thin coatings that are typical of parging applications.
USES
825 PARGE-ALL is recommended for parging over rigid foam insulation. 825 PARGE-ALL provides protection for rigid polystyrene insulation against damage by weather, ultraviolet (UV) rays, and normal physical wear. It may also be used directly on concrete foundations.
PACKAGING
25 Kg Pails
COVERAGE
Approximately 9.3 m² (50 ft.²) per 25 kg pail of 825 PARGE-ALL. On rougher surfaces, or if a thicker, highly textured surface is desired, coverage will be reduced.
SHELF LIFE
One year from date of manufacture when stored indoors on pallets in a dry, cool area. Do not store product outside.
TECHNICAL DATA
Color
Concrete Grey
Contains fibers and acrylic polymers
Non-metallic and contains no chlorides, plasters, or gypsum
Pot Life
45 minutes (approximately)
APPLICATION
Surface Preparation … Ensure that rigid foam insulation is securely fastened to concrete. The surface shall be firm and free of loose particles, grease, oil and other foreign matter.
Apply self-sticking fibreglass tape over joints between insulation panels, to all outside corners, over fastener heads, and damaged insulation areas.
Mixing … Add the 25 kg dry contents to approximately 3.5 liters of water and mix thoroughly with an electric drill (400 – 600 rpm).
The mix will appear dry for the first 30 – 60 seconds of the mixing process.
DO NOT ADD WATER at this stage. As mixing continues, the acrylic polymer will re-emulsify, producing a workable mix.
Application Method … Apply 825 PARGE-ALL with a trowel, masonry brush, or other suitable tool, to a thickness of 3 mm (1/8″) and create the desired surface texture immediately.
Cover only about 1 m² (10.76 ft.²) section at one time.
Clean tools periodically to avoid buildup of material.
Curing … Protect against rapid surface evaporation due to heat and wind. Allow to air cure for 48 hours if painting is desired.
Cleanup … All tools must be cleaned with water after use. Cured material can only be removed mechanically.
PRECAUTIONS
DO NOT apply 825 PARGE-ALL when the temperature is expected to be below 4o C (40o F) within 24 hours or when rain is imminent.
Protect from conditions that may cause early water loss such as: wind, low humidity, high temperatures, and direct sunlight. Early water loss is also amplified in thin applications.
Realize that set time will decrease as the product, air, substrate, and mixing liquid temperature increase and will be increased as the temperature decreases.
When using 825 PARGE-ALL on extruded foam, rasping is necessary to create a surface profile for proper bonding.
Follow hot weather concreting practices when applying 825 PARGE-ALL at temperatures exceeding 25o C, or under sunny and windy conditions.
If the foam has been degraded by UV exposure, the damaged surface is to be removed to provide a sound surface prior to the application of 825 PARGE-ALL.
Ensure the foam is flat and sound prior to installation of 825 PARGE-ALL.
Due to normal variation in Portland cement colour, batch- to-batch colour variation will occur.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Contains Portland cement. Avoid eye contact or prolonged contact with skin. In case of eye contact, flush eyes with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes and get prompt medical attention.
