EXPO-GLOSS® OTC
“Wet Look” Exposed Aggregate Sealer
DESCRIPTION
EXPO-GLOSS OTC exposed aggregate concrete sealer is a transparent, high solids, film-forming, curing, sealing, and dustproofing compound that improves resistance to staining and wear. EXPO-GLOSS OTC is specifically formulated to enhance the beauty of exposed aggregate concrete surfaces, while providing maximum surface protection. When properly applied, EXPO-GLOSS OTC produces a glossy “wet look” finish.
USES
EXPO-GLOSS OTC is ideal for freshly finished exposed aggregate concrete surfaces. It is also equally applicable for use on old exposed aggregate concrete surfaces.
NOTE: EXPO-GLOSS OTC should not be used on standard concrete, polymer-modified surfaces/overlays, or aggregate overlays. Please refer to PRECAUTIONS for additional substrate limitations.
FEATURES/BENEFITS
- Provides shiny, wet look … enhances the beauty of natural stone in exposed aggregate concrete.
- Permeable film allows moisture in cured exposed aggregate substrates to evaporate.
- Available in transparent and Merrimac Brown formulations.
- Applies easily to freshly finished or old exposed aggregate concrete surfaces.
- Dries quickly once applied.
- Cure, seal, and dustproof with a single product.
- Improves resistance to staining and wear.
- Ready to use.

APPLICATION
Surface Preparation
Fresh (New) Exposed Aggregate Concrete … Apply EXPO-GLOSS OTC to freshly placed and finished exposed aggregate concrete surfaces once the aggregate exposure process is complete and all surface moisture has disappeared. Before applying EXPO-GLOSS OTC, make sure all cement paste residue has been thoroughly removed and there is no standing or puddled water on the surface.
Existing (Old) Exposed Aggregate Concrete …The existing surface must be thoroughly clean and free of all stains, oil, grease, dust, dirt, curing compounds, etc. before applying EXPO-GLOSS OTC. The surface may be damp, but do not apply EXPO-GLOSS OTC to exposed aggregate concrete surfaces containing standing or puddled water.
Mixing … For optimum performance, gentle mixing or agitation is recommended. CAUTION: TO AVOID FOAMING, DO NOT MIX EXCESSIVELY.
Application Method … Apply using a good quality natural bristle brush or a short nap roller. Spread in a thin, even coat, being careful to avoid puddling.
Drying … Drying times may be extended depending on application rate, temperature, humidity, and project conditions. Protect the freshly coated surface from traffic, dust, condensation, and rain while drying. The surface will be slippery while drying and may become slippery once dry under certain conditions.
Cleanup … Clean tools with an aromatic solvent immediately after finishing application.
PRECAUTIONS
FOR OUTSIDE/EXTERIOR APPLICATION ONLY. KEEP AWAY FROM ALL OPEN FLAMES, SPARKS, IGNITION SOURCES, etc. Use with adequate ventilation and block all HVAC ventilation ducts which may spread product vapours – vapours are flammable and heavier than air. If product odors are objectionable, W. R. MEADOWS recommends using a water-based product, such as DECRA-SEAL™ W/B or any of the VOCOMP® series products. EXPO-GLOSS OTC must be applied without diluting or thinning. Surfaces treated with EXPO-GLOSS OTC may become slippery under certain conditions. To increase slip resistance, addition of SURE-STEP™ from W. R. MEADOWS is recommended.
EXPO-GLOSS OTC is specifically designed for exposed aggregate concrete surfaces only. Do not use EXPO-GLOSS OTC on standard concrete. Do not use on polymer-modified surfaces or aggregate overlays, including topping, overlays, concrete overlays, mortars, resin/aggregate coatings/systems, decorative toppings, terrazzo surfaces, etc. Do not use on extremely porous substrates, such as brick, or on dense/non-porous surfaces, such as stone.
EXPO-GLOSS OTC should not be applied on hot exposed aggregate concrete surfaces in direct sunlight or during high temperature conditions. These conditions cause rapid evaporation of EXPO-GLOSS OTC, preventing proper film formation. Under these conditions, the EXPO-GLOSS OTC film may peel, become hazy, bubble, turn white (blush), and/or not adhere properly to the exposed aggregate surface. Apply EXPO-GLOSS OTC when the surface temperature of the exposed aggregate concrete and air temperature are between 4° – 32° C.
EXPO-GLOSS OTC should not be applied to exposed aggregate concrete substrates subjected to excessive moisture. This excessive moisture can become trapped in the EXPO-GLOSS OTC film and cause it to peel, turn white (blush), and/or not adhere properly to the exposed aggregate concrete surface.
Do not over-apply EXPO-GLOSS OTC. Over-application may cause the film to discolor, peel, become hazy, turn white (blush), become hazy and/or not adhere properly to the exposed aggregate concrete surface.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
EXPO-GLOSS OTC IS FLAMMABLE. Remove ignition sources prior to use. Empty containers may contain FLAMMABLE vapours. Handle empty containers as FLAMMABLE liquids.
Direct contact with the product or exposure to product vapours may cause irritation of the eyes and/or skin. Inhalation of vapours in excess of permissible exposure limits may result in symptoms of transient central nervous system depression.
In the event of a spill, contain the product, apply absorbents and place in sealed containers. In the event of a fire, contain all run-off water. Refer to product Safety Data Sheet for complete health and safety information.
