Calcium Chloride Concrete Set Accelerator
HYDRASET calcium chloride concrete set accelerator is a ready-to-use liquid admixture. The product accelerates initial setting time one to three hours faster than control. HYDRASET improves workability and strength while hastening the hydration of cement. It makes the mix easier to place and speeds construction by shortening the initial set and curing time. Time and labour are saved because forms and other protection can be removed earlier and finishing can be started.
HYDRASET should not be limited to use during months when temperatures are in the -7° – 7° C (20° – 45° F) range. Increased workability and earlier strength are also obtained when temperatures are in the 10° – 18° C (50° – 65° F) range because any time the temperature drops below 21° C (70° F) there is a reduction in the rate of cement hydration. During cold and hot weather application, follow ACI 305 and 306 recommendations.
HYDRASET is recommended for use during cool and cold weather to accelerate the set time and reduce the risk of frozen mortar and concrete mixes. However, HYDRASET can be used any time you want to accelerate the set time to decrease turnaround time.

When stored indoors and in original, unopened containers at temperatures between 4° – 32° C, shelf life is a minimum of one year from date of manufacture.

HYDRASET is added directly to the mix water. Reduce the amount of water by 5 to 7% to compensate for the addition of HYDRASET. For masonry mortar, 1.89 litres (1.67 quarts) of HYDRASET for each 42.73 kg (94 lb.) bag of cement should be used. For mortar cements that are 50% Portland cement and 50% lime, one-half the amount, or 950 mL (one U.S. quart) of HYDRASET, is required.
For concrete, the following quantities are recommended:

HYDRASET affects only the Portland cement portion of the mix and is not an antifreeze for the water portion. HYDRASET has no effect on straight lime mortars and should not be used with oxychloride stuccos. Use HYDRASET directly from the factory-sealed container; do not dilute. Avoid direct contact.
