PRECON® FABRIC TAPE
PRECON FABRIC TAPE is a self-adhering tape comprised of a rubberized asphalt waterproofing membrane laminated to a geotextile layer of non-woven polypropylene on one side and a release paper on the other.
PRECON FABRIC TAPE is used to detail penetrations and on end laps. The product can also be used on terminations, top edges of vertical applications, and perimeter terminations on horizontal applications.
- Non-woven side bonds to poured concrete.
- Self-adhesive side bonds to most surfaces.
- UV resistant.
30.48 cm x 15.24 m (12″ x 50′) Rolls, 4/carton.
Application Method … Remove release paper prior to application. Use firm hand pressure to ensure PRECON FABRIC TAPE is secured to surface and will not peel. Only remove as much release paper as needed to properly apply material. For best adhesion, MEL-PRIME™ or MEL-PRIME W/B from W. R. MEADOWS is recommended.
Penetrations and Protrusions … Detail around all horizontal and vertical penetrations using BEM or MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE (two-component) from W. R. MEADOWS. Apply BEM or MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE by forming a fillet around the pipe or protrusion, overlapping the fabric side of PRECON and the protrusion a minimum of 64 mm (2.5″). If the gap between the protrusion and the membrane is greater than 13 mm (½”), apply PRECON FABRIC TAPE over the wet BEM or MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE, before it has cured. All penetration and protrusion surfaces must be clean, rust-free, and sound prior to application of BEM or MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE.
End Laps … At terminations of PRECON, apply 30.48 cm (12″) wide area of PRECON FABRIC TAPE with 152.4 mm (6″) on each side of lap edge. For best results, use BEM or MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE over 30.48 cm (12″) area prior to application of tape.
Patching … Prior to placing concrete into area, inspect PRECON membrane for punctures or damage and repair as necessary with POINTING MASTIC from W. R. MEADOWS and/or additional PRECON FABRIC TAPE.
