APPLICATION
Install to form a continuous protective layer over the membranes in accordance with OPSS 914. Sheets are easily cut to fit with a roofer’s knife. Protection board shall be laid on the asphalt membrane while the surface is still tacky, with the length of the board transverse on the deck. Materials or substances shall not be applied to the membrane surface to remove the tackiness prior to installation of the protection board.
Application Method … The protection board shall be placed with edges overlapping 12.7 – 25.4 mm both longitudinally and transversely. The protection board edge shall be within 6 mm of all curbs, drain verticals, and expansion joint verticals. Protection board shall be placed such that the longitudinal (direction of traffic flow) joints are staggered a minimum of 150 mm.
Tack coat material shall be applied to the protection board cover with approved equipment which will provide a uniform application at the required rate. The tack coat shall be applied only when the protection board is clean and dry. The tack coat on the protection board cover shall be placed just sufficiently ahead of paving to allow for curing. The diluted tack coat material shall be applied at the rate of 0.5 litre/m².
Binder course pavement shall be placed within one week of waterproofing. Paving equipment shall not be permitted on the tack coat until it has fully cured.
PRECAUTIONS
