
JOB SUMMARY:
Supervises production operation in accordance with company policies and procedures. Ensures safe, continuous and efficient rates of production during shift.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises production line operation in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
- Guides the assigned team to meet the standards for safety, production, cost control, waste reduction, and quality.
- Trains and coach’s production line employees.
- Provides leadership and/or supports the direct reports in Board Mill, Finishing, and Wood Yard.
- Assists the production manager with employee performance reviews.
- Consults the production manager for shift schedule to include: employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees and shift rotations.
- Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.
- Responsible for proper tracking and reporting of production to maintain accurate records for product monitoring and process improvement.
- Oversees operations to guide Maintenance Department activities in the area of responsibility to fulfill mainline objectives.
- Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and Federal and State regulations.
- Coordinates production start-ups, shutdowns and changeovers.
- Schedules and conducts shift meetings, safety meetings, and huddles
- Responsible for quality control. Makes adjustments as necessary during shift to produce product within specifications. Rejects product outside of specifications.
- Communicates with other Shift Supervisors and the Production Manager.
- Ensures a clean and safe work area.
- Assists in production as necessary.
- Performs other duties as required.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews quality control testing.
- Manages Environmental impact activities within the Department.
- Emulates the high standards for Quality, Integrity, and Service.
- Completes other assignments as deemed appropriate by the General Manager and Production Manager
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent people skills and strong communication skills—listening, speaking, presenting, and writing.
- Ability to lift 60 lbs. required.
- Detail oriented with good organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure with problem solving skills
- Good mathematical and computer skills.
- General construction knowledge
- Excellent product knowledge and industry understanding
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- H.S. diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equal on-the-job experience.
- At least 5 years of process management experience.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience.
- Demonstrated Fiberboard manufacturing experience.
- OSHA – 10 Training
- First Aid and AED Training
