This AIA CES/HSW-approved course introduces the building science principles behind effective moisture management in the built environment. Participants will review the hydrologic cycle, the four critical control layers of the building enclosure, and design/construction practices that help reduce moisture intrusion and improve long-term building performance.

The course also explores how water infiltration contributes to concrete deterioration and reviews strategies for mitigation. Topics include dampproofing, waterproofing, vaporproofing, positive-side vs. negative-side waterproofing, and a comparison of common waterproofing systems, applications, and performance considerations.
