Green Roofing 101 Program
Thursday, May 22, 2025 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM CST
Host: Liz Morris, CDT, GRP
This course will explain the Green Roofing concept, system types, membrane protection, and vegetation-free zones. It discusses layers and designs for long-term, thriving, leak-free Green Roofing. Maintenance recommendations will be discussed as well. This course covers the benefits of Green Roofs, which include stormwater management and the enhancement of the human experience. Green Roofs can extend the life of waterproofing, reduce building energy load, help with urban heat island mitigation, sound attenuation, and have a positive effect on agricultural production. Green Roofs can be aesthetically pleasing to look at and become a migratory pollinator habitat. All these factors are of benefit to the well-being of building occupants. The course earns one learning unit (LU).
