WATERSTOP HPW is a hydrophilic swell strip designed to help seal non-moving construction joints in concrete. When exposed to water, it expands to help block water migration at footings, walls, floors, tunnels, plaza decks, parking decks, and around penetrations such as pipes. Its synthetic rubber composition is made to maintain shape through wet-dry cycles, provide controlled swelling, and perform in high-alkaline concrete environments.
This waterstop can be installed vertically or horizontally and is suited for projects where reliable joint sealing is needed in cast-in-place and reinforced concrete construction. With strong swelling performance, re-swelling capability, and compatibility with WATERSTOP LIQUID HPW for rough surfaces and detailing, WATERSTOP HPW offers a practical solution for helping protect below-grade and water-exposed concrete joints.

DESCRIPTION
WATERSTOP HPW is a hydrophilic swell strip composed of synthetic rubber with excellent swelling capabilities. It retains its own shape after wet-drying cycles and is intended for creating watertight sealing of non-moving construction joints. WATERSTOP HPW will provide superior performance over the service life of the structure.
USES
WATERSTOP HPW can be installed both vertically and horizontally. It is used to seal non-moving construction joints against water migration in concrete and reinforced concrete construction, including concrete footings, walls, floors, tunnels, and parking and plaza decks. The waterstop is also used to seal around pipes and other penetrations. WATERSTOP HPW has superior performance up to 6 bar (87 psi) water pressure.

STORAGE AND HANDLING
Protect from moisture. Store indoors on skid or pallet. Storage temperature is -15˚F to 165˚ F (-25˚C to 75˚ C).
APPLICATION
Surface Preparation … Ensure surfaces are structurally sound, dry, free from protrusions, debris and compounds detrimental to adhesion. Fill minor cracks, voids, and depressions with WATERSTOP LIQUID HPW prior to installation of WATERSTOP HPW.
Application Method … WATERSTOP HPW is intended for use on vertical and horizontal construction joints and should be recessed a minimum of 3” (76.2 mm) from outside surfaces. Ensure all ends are firmly butted together.
For rough concrete, apply WATERSTOP LIQUID HPW to fill voids and provide additional adhesion to the concrete while preventing water or concrete from seeping under WATERSTOP HPW.
For troweled smooth surfaces, three attachment methods are available.
- Nails/Fasteners: Attach WATERSTOP HPW with a washer nail [1” (25.44 mm) shank] with washer [5/8” -13/16” (15 – 23 mm)]. Tapcon fasteners are recommended.
- Adhesive attachment: standard urethane construction adhesive.
- WATERSTOP LIQUID HPW: Lay a 1/8” – 1/4” (3.2 – 6.4 mm) bead of WATERSTOP LIQUID HPW along the joint. Surfaces to receive the WATERSTOP HPW cannot have protrusions greater than 1/2” (12.7 mm). Press WATERSTOP HPW into uncured WATERSTOP LIQUID HPW and nail every 15” (381 mm) on center. Attach WATERSTOP HPW with a washer nail [1” (25.44 mm) shank] with washer [5/8” -13/16” (15 – 23 mm)]. Butt ends for a continuous application.
