W. R. MEADOWS is frequently asked what types of fasteners are best recommended for use with our line of AIR-SHIELD air barriers. Due to the sheer number of types, this is difficult to answer and should be addressed on a project-by-project basis. However, we’ve put together a new technical bulletin on fastener penetrations through AIR-SHIELD membranes that describes the different terminology and basic rules-of-thumb that should be adhered to when performing these installations.
This new technical bulletin is available on our website and is also available in PDF format to easily print out and/or email. It’s a great item to refer to for specifiers and installers alike. Hold on to the file for future reference, or bookmark the page as we’ll be making updates to the bulletin as needed.
Remember, for an air barrier to be effective, it needs to be continuous, so it is imperative that these penetrations be addressed to ensure this is the case. Make sure to reference this technical bulletin when performing these installations.
We’re here to help to ensure a successful AIR-SHIELD application. We hope this technical bulletin helps. Need more information on an AIR-SHIELD application? Looking for other technical bulletins to help you do your work? Please email info@wrmeadows.com and we’ll be happy to help.
