Introducing the WATER DROPLET TEST
The “water droplet test” is the industry standard for discerning if your concrete is ready for a penetrating sealer. We teach this simple method to distributors, contractors, and homeowners so they can visually identify the status of their concrete seal. Here’s the step-by-step application:
STEP #1: Apply a water droplet to your concrete. When you want to know if your concrete needs a penetrating sealer, apply a small droplet of water to your concrete as seen here:
STEP #2: Watch and wait. See if the water beads up, or if it absorbs into the concrete. Here we are already seeing the signs that this concrete is ready for a penetrating sealer. When it spreads to the size of a half dollar, you will know your concrete is ready.
THE RIGHT OUTCOME: When the water on your concrete beads up like this and remains this way for five minutes, you can cross off applying a penetrating sealer from your chore list. Your concrete is still being protected.
