W. R. MEADOWS’ Building Envelope Product Group Manager and Building Science Specialist Russell Snow will be featured in a panel discussion on liquid-applied air barriers during the one-day Materials Selection Conference in Pittsburgh on September 26. The event, hosted by Durability + Design magazine, is titled “Building Wall Coatings, Water Repellents and Liquid-Applied Air Barriers.”
Snow currently serves as Chair of the Air Barrier Association of America and is a member of the ASTM E06, ASTM D08, and American Concrete Institute committees. He has also been involved for a number of years with Construction Specifications Canada and is currently involved nationally with the CSC Educational Maintenance Task Team, including being the Chair of the Technical Representative Course Committee.
Snow will describe the performance of W. R. MEADOWS’ liquid-applied air barrier brands in several scenarios of use involving differing outdoor and indoor environments, substrates and their conditions, and availability of skilled craftsmen.
He will be joined on the air-barrier panel by technical representatives from five additional suppliers who will also describe their brands’ performance. The panel’s moderator is David de Sola, principal of 3IVE, and an expert in building commissioning.
Other components of the one-day conference include discussions of WUFI software to select and evaluate the performance of building enclosure components by Andre Desjarlais of Oak Ridge National Laboratory; a second panel discussion, moderated by Ken Trimber of KTA-Tator, on the performance of masonry wall coatings and water-repellents; and a presentation about how permeance influences the performance of masonry wall coatings.
Participants can earn up to 8 AIA Learning Units for attending.
