EXPO-GLOSS®
“Wet Look” Exposed Aggregate Solvent-Based Sealer
DESCRIPTION
EXPO-GLOSS exposed aggregate sealer is a transparent, high solids, film-forming, curing, sealing, and dustproofing compound that improves resistance to staining and wear. EXPO-GLOSS is specifically formulated to enhance the beauty of natural stone in exposed aggregate concrete surfaces, while providing maximum surface protection. When properly applied, EXPO-GLOSS produces a glossy “wet-look” finish.
USES
EXPO-GLOSS is ideal for freshly finished exposed aggregate surfaces. It is also equally applicable for use on old exposed aggregate surfaces.
FEATURES/BENEFITS
- Breathable film allows moisture in cured exposed aggregate substrates to evaporate.
- Provides shiny, wet look … enhances the beauty of natural stone in exposed aggregate.
- Available in clear-transparent and Merrimac Brown-transparent formulations.
- Applies easily to freshly finished or old exposed aggregate concrete surfaces.
- Dries quickly once applied.
- Cure, seal, and dustproof with a single product.
- Improves resistance to staining and wear.
- Ready to use.
- VOC-compliant.
PACKAGING
1 Gallon (3.79 Liter) Cans (4/Carton)
5 Gallon (18.93 Liter) Pails
55 Gallon (208.20 Liter) Drums
COVERAGE
Coverage is 300 – 600 ft.2/gal. (7.36 – 14.73 m2/L), depending on surface finish. Coverage is approximate and may vary depending on surface finish/texture, concrete condition, climatic conditions, etc. Always apply to a test area first to determine actual coverage rate before full-scale application.
SHELF LIFE
When stored indoors in original, unopened containers at temperatures between 40° – 90° F (4° – 32° C), optimum performance and best use is obtained within two years of date of manufacture.

APPLICATION
Surface Preparation
Fresh (New) Exposed Aggregate … Apply EXPO-GLOSS to freshly placed and finished exposed aggregate surfaces once the aggregate exposure process is complete and all surface moisture has disappeared. Before applying EXPO-GLOSS, make sure all cement paste residue has been thoroughly removed and there is not standing or puddled water on the surface.
Existing (Old) Exposed Aggregate … The existing surface must be thoroughly clean and free of all stains, oil, grease, dust, dirt, curing and/or sealing compounds, etc., before applying EXPO-GLOSS. The surface may be damp, but do not apply EXPO-GLOSS to exposed aggregate surfaces containing standing or puddled water.
Application Method … Use a sprayer or short-nap roller to apply a uniform film. Avoid puddling in low areas. If puddles occur, brush or roll them out. A standard industrial-grade sprayer, such as a Chapin 19069, equipped with Viton fittings, and a fan spray nozzle that produces a flow of 0.5 GPM (1.89 LPM) under 40 psi (0.276 MPa) of pressure (or equivalent) is recommended.
Mixing … For optimum performance, gentle mixing or agitation is recommended. CAUTION: TO AVOID FOAMING, DO NOT MIX EXCESSIVELY.
Drying Time … Product dries quickly. Drying times may be extended depending on application rate, temperature, humidity, and project conditions. Protect the freshly coated surface from traffic, dust, condensation, and rain while drying. The surface will be slippery while drying and may become slippery once dry under certain conditions.
Cleanup … Clean tools after use with a solvent such as xylol or toluol.
PRECAUTIONS
For exterior application only. EXPO-GLOSS is specifically designed for exposed aggregate concrete surfaces only. Do not use EXPO-GLOSS on standard concrete. Do not use on polymer-modified surfaces, including toppings, overlays, mortars, resin/aggregate coatings/systems, decorative toppings, terrazzo surfaces, etc. Do not use on extremely porous substrates, such as brick, or on dense/non-porous surfaces, such as stone. Surfaces treated with EXPO-GLOSS may become slippery under certain conditions.
EXPO-GLOSS should not be applied on hot exposed aggregate surfaces in direct sunlight or during high temperature conditions. These conditions cause rapid evaporation of EXPO-GLOSS, preventing proper film formation. Under these conditions, the EXPO-GLOSS film may peel, become hazy, bubble, turn white (blush), and/or not adhere properly to the exposed aggregate surface. Apply EXPO-GLOSS when the surface temperature of the exposed aggregate and air temperature are between 40° – 90° F (4° – 32° C).
Product should not be applied to exposed aggregate substrates subjected to excessive moisture. This excessive moisture can become trapped in the EXPO-GLOSS film and cause it to peel, bubble, turn white (blush), and/or not adhere properly to the exposed aggregate surface.
Do not over-apply EXPO-GLOSS. Over application may cause the film to discolor, peel, become hazy, bubble, turn white (blush), and/or not adhere properly to the exposed aggregate surface.
EXPO-GLOSS is designed for use on exposed aggregate concrete only. Product is not to be used on stone overlays.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Avoid direct contact with this product as it may cause irritation of the eyes and/or skin. Inhalation of vapors may result in transient central nervous system depression. EXPO-GLOSS is combustible. EXPO-GLOSS should not be utilized in locations where food items are present. Refer to product Safety Data Sheet for complete health and safety information.
