LIN-SEAL® EMULSION
Anti-Spalling and Curing and Sealing Compound
DESCRIPTION
LIN-SEAL EMULSION anti-spalling and curing and sealing compound is a true water-based, high solids emulsion of boiled linseed oil. LIN-SEAL EMULSION is designed for freshly placed concrete helping to retain original moisture to aid hydration and assist in the development of high early and ultimate strengths. LIN-SEAL EMULSION is a single-application penetrating sealer that protects existing concrete from the effects of deicing chemicals. It also prevents map cracking, checking, spalling, and scaling. LIN-SEAL EMULSION appears milky white in the container and when first applied, providing visual identification of covered area.
USES
LIN-SEAL EMULSION anti-spalling and curing and sealing compound is ideal for use on bridge decks, parking garage decks, ramps, or any other DOT concrete surface exposed to water, deicing salts, or other destructive substances. LIN-SEAL EMULSION increases the durability of concrete to prolong its service life. The product is intended for DOT use.
FEATURES/BENEFITS
- Increases durability to extend the useful life of concrete.
- Furnished as a ready-to-use, true water-based compound.
- Provides a protective fiilm, which optimizes water retention in freshly placed concrete.
- Offers a compressive strength significantly greater than unproperly cured or uncured concrete.
- Increases tensile strength for greater resistance to cracking and surface crazing.
- Improves abrasion resistance and minimize corrosive action of salts and chemicals.
- Prevents scaling and spalling.
- Use conventional commercial spraying equipment for quick, easy application.
- VOC-compliant.

APPLICATION
Surface Preparation
Fresh (New) Concrete … Apply as soon as all surface water has disappeared and the concrete surface will not be marred by walking workers.
Existing (Old) Concrete … Surfaces to be sealed must be clean and dry. Remove all stains, oil, grease, dust, dirt, curing compounds, and other substances that would prevent proper penetration of the sealer.
Mixing … For optimum performance, gentle mixing or agitation is recommended.
DO NOT MIX EXCESSIVELY.
Application Method … Spray on in one even coat with hand or power spray equipment as soon as surface water disappears from horizontal concrete surface. On vertical surfaces, spray on promptly after the forms are removed. A Chapin 1949 sprayer and a nozzle that produces a flow of 0.5 GPM (1.9 LPM) under 40 psi (.276 MP) of pressure is recommended. The product may also be applied with paving train equipment. Application equipment must be clean and free of any previously used materials. Broom off puddles or any excess liquid. Old concrete should be treated annually.
Apply at a rate of approximately 300 ft.2/gal. (7.36 m2/L). A second application at approximately 600 ft.2/gal. (14.7 m2/L) is recommended for increased protection and spall prevention.
Cleanup … Prior to drying, application equipment can be easily cleaned up with soap and water. Once dried, use mineral spirits or other suitable solvents.
PRECAUTIONS
KEEP FROM FREEZING. Do not apply when the temperature of the concrete is less than 40˚ F (4˚ C). DO NOT MIX OR DILUTE WITH ANY OTHER LIQUIDS OR PRODUCTS. Do not use on densely troweled surfaces or on surfaces where darkening of the concrete is undesirable. Do not use on surfaces that are later to be painted, tiled, hardened, sealed, or treated in any manner. Not recommended for use on residential driveways. LIN-SEAL EMULSION is intended for exterior use only in concrete exposed to deicing salts and chemicals. Not recommended for residential use.
Drying of products containing linseed oil result in the generation of heat, which may result in the ignition of combustible materials such as rags, paper towels, etc.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Materials soaked with linseed oil (rags, absorbents, etc.) may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Immediately after use, all materials coming in contact with this product should be placed in sealed, water-filled containers. Refer to Safety Data Sheet for complete health and safety information.
