VOCOMP®-30
Water-Based, Acrylic, Concrete Curing and Sealing Compound for Fresh Concrete
DESCRIPTION
VOCOMP-30 is a ready-to-use, 30% solids concrete curing and sealing compound formulated of special acrylic polymers in a true water-based carrier. VOCOMP-30 provides improved resistance to rain, sun, petroleum, deicing salts, cleaning agents (except aromatic solvents), diluted caustics, and other pollutants.
Color-wise, VOCOMP-30 appears milky white in the container and, when first applied, leaves a bluish cast on the concrete for easy visual coverage. VOCOMP-30 dries clear to provide a transparent sheen finish.
This product is designed for fresh concrete only.
USES
VOCOMP-30 may be used wherever a thicker film, with a medium-to-high sheen, is desired to bring out the natural beauty of concrete without discoloring, checking, or peeling. When properly applied, VOCOMP-30 provides a premium-grade seal for superior moisture protection. It may be applied to simultaneously cure, seal, and dustproof new interior, exterior, horizontal, and vertical concrete surfaces. VOCOMP-30 is ideal for curing, sealing, and dustproofing driveways, sidewalks, patios, swimming pool areas, and commercial and industrial floors. Horizontal surfaces protected with VOCOMP-30 offer excellent wearing qualities for foot and vehicular traffic. If, after prolonged usage, traffic patterns appear, the surface can be washed clean and recoated to restore the original beauty. Good concrete and good concreting practices should be used, as VOCOMP-30 is not a cure-all for improperly mixed or placed concrete.

APPLICATION
Surface Preparation … Apply VOCOMP-30 when the surface water has disappeared and the concrete surface will not be marred by walking workmen.
Mixing … For optimum performance, gentle mixing or agitation is recommended. CAUTION: TO AVOID FOAMING, DO NOT MIX EXCESSIVELY.
Application Method … A typical industrial sprayer, such as a Chapin 1949, provides an easy, economical method of application. VOCOMP-30 can also be applied using a lint-free roller or lambs wool applicator. Care should be taken to maintain a wet-edge during application to prevent roller marks in dried film.
VOCOMP-30 should be sprayed on with a Chapin 5916 nozzle that produces a flow of 0.1 GPM (0.379 LPM). Spray on in a fine, fog pattern without spurts and dribbles to form a thin, continuous film. AVOID PUDDLING in low areas. If puddles occur, brush or roll them out. For added protection and a greater sheen on new or existing (old) concrete, we recommend two coats of VOCOMP-30 be applied at right angles. Additional coats of VOCOMP-30 may be applied after the first coat has thoroughly dried. Use of improper spray tip or application method may result in a “spotty” appearance.
Drying Time … VOCOMP-30 dries quickly. Drying times may be extended depending on application rate, temperature, humidity, and project conditions. Restrict foot traffic for at least four hours. Twelve hours is preferable.
Cleanup … While VOCOMP-30 is still wet, equipment may be cleaned with soap and water. Once dried, the material may be removed with a solvent such as xylene or toluene.
PRECAUTIONS
KEEP FROM FREEZING. Do not dilute. Do not apply VOCOMP-30 when air, material, and surface temperatures are expected to fall below 40° F (4° C) within four hours of completed application. DO NOT MIX WATER-BASED COMPOUNDS WITH ANY COMPOUND CONTAINING SOLVENT. VOCOMP-30 may be applied to colored concrete, but mottling may occur.
Concrete floors properly cured with VOCOMP-30 meet the requirements of ASTM C1315: Section 8.8 Adhesion. For any alternate specifications or requirements, secure the approval of the manufacurer of any paint, coating, carpet, adhesive, resilient flooring, floor topping, etc. (any type/composition of subsequent floor treatment) that will be applied over VOCOMP-30. Obtain this approval BEFORE applying their prouduct over concrete previously cured with VOCOMP-30.
VOCOMP-30 can be used on commerical and industrial floors that do not receive heavy forklift traffic. If the floor is going to receive heavy forklift traffic, consider using MED-CURE™ from W. R. MEADOWS as the curing compound, followed by an application of LIQUI-HARD® or LIQUI-HARD ULTRA from W. R. MEADOWS.
