TIAH® OTC
Non-Yellowing, Acrylic Sealing Compound
DESCRIPTION
TIAH OTC acrylic sealing compound is an acrylic polymer solution that dries to a transparent film, which improves abrasion resistance of the concrete. The product is specifically formulated for extended working time and provides a tough, clear film that will not after-yellow. It also provides improved weather and stain resistance, combined with a dustproof sealer.
USES
TIAH OTC can be used on driveways, patios, loading docks, swimming pool areas, and exposed aggregate, as well as any exterior surface where protection and sealing of concrete is desired (dries to a low medium sheen).
TIAH OTC offers improved resistance to rain, sun, freezing temperatures, stains, oil, grease, de-icing salts, and caustics, as well as airborne soot, dust, and other pollutants.

APPLICATION
Surface Preparation … Concrete surfaces must be clean and dry with all stains, oil, grease, dust, and dirt removed prior to application.
Application Method … Use a sprayer or short-nap roller to apply a uniform film. Avoid puddling in low areas. If puddles occur, brush or roll them out. A standard industrial-grade sprayer, such as a Chapin 19069, equipped with Viton fittings, as well as a 0.5 GPM (1.9 LPM) spray rate nozzle, is recommended for best results. Surface temperature of the concrete must be between 40° – 90° F (4.4° – 32.2° C).
For a two-coat application, apply first coat at 600 ft.2/gal (14.7 m2/L). After the first coat has thoroughly dried, apply a second coat at 600 ft.2/gal. (14.7 m2/L)/ NOTE: Second coat should be applied at a right angle.
For ultimate protection on new concrete, use the W. R. MEADOWS complete curing-and-sealing system. First, apply a uniform film of a CS-309™ series product from W. R. MEADOWS as soon as possible after the surface water has disappeared and the concrete surface will not be marred by walking workers. After this first application has thoroughly dried, then apply TIAH OTC using a sprayer or short-nap roller. This combination will create a superior, durable, long-lasting surface.
Drying Time … TIAH OTC dries quickly. Drying times may be extended depending on application rate, temperature, humidity, and project conditions. Restrict foot traffic for at least four hours. Twelve hours is preferable.
Cleanup … Application equipment should be cleaned promptly after use with xylene or toluene.
PRECAUTIONS
Coating is to be applied without dilution or thinning. For exterior/outdoor application only. Block all HVAC ventilation ducts which may spread product odor. Use with adequate ventilation and keep away from open flame – vapors are flammable and heavier than air. If odor is objectionable, use of DECRA-SEAL™ W/B or the VOCOMP® series from W. R. MEADOWS is suggested. Surfaces treated with TIAH OTC may become slippery under certain conditions. To increase slip resistance, addition of SURE-STEP™ from W. R. MEADOWS is recommended.
TIAH OTC should not be applied during high temperature conditions in direct sunlight. These conditions cause rapid evaporation, which does not allow the film to form properly. Under these conditions, the film may peel, bubble, and/or turn white (blush). TIAH 100 should not be applied to concrete exposed to excessive moisture. Entrapped moisture in a solvent-based sealer may cause the film to peel and/or turn white (blush).
TIAH OTC may be used on colored concrete, but mottling may occur. Do not use on dense or non-porous surfaces, i.e. brick, stone, etc. Do not use TIAH OTC as a waterproofing sealer on masonry surfaces.
TIAH OTC is a membrane-forming sealer. All membrane-forming sealers may darken the concrete or magnify imperfections caused by variations in the porosity of the concrete.
Concrete containing calcium chloride will remain dark longer when treated with TIAH OTC. A small test patch application is recommended. Concrete floors properly sealed with TIAH OTC meet the requirements of ASTM C1315, Section 8.8 – Adhesion: For ceramic tile adhesives that meet the requirements of ANSI A 136.1-1992. For any other specifications, applications, installations, etc., please obtain approval for use, from the manufacturer of the subsequent product/treatment being applied. These products may include, but are not limited to: adhesives, mortars, tile cements, paints, coatings, etc. The specifier and user shall determine the suitability of product for specific application and assume all responsibility in connection therewith.
TIAH OTC is flammable. Remove ignition sources prior to use. Refer to Safety Data Sheet for complete health and safety information.
