WATER-BASED ACRYLIC CURING AND SEALING COMPOUND
DESCRIPTION
VOCOMP-20 water-based acrylic curing and
sealing compound is formulated using special
acrylic polymers in a true water-based carrier.
Once properly applied, VOCOMP-20 provides a
nearly impermeable seal for efficient moisture
retention. VOCOMP-20 appears “milky white”
in the container and, when first applied, leaves a “bluish” cast on the concrete for easy visual
confirmation of coverage. VOCOMP-20 dries
clear to provide a transparent sheen finish. The
sheen can be controlled by the number of coats
applied. VOCOMP-20 resists yellowing from
ultraviolet exposure and provides a durable, long-lasting
finish that offers improved resistance to
chemicals, petroleum and abrasives.
VOCOMP-20 will minimize hair-checking, premature cracking, dusting and spalling. However, good concrete and good concreting practices should be used, as VOCOMP-20 is not a cure-all for improperly mixed or placed concrete. VOCOMP-20 meets the very strict maximum VOC content limits of 100 g/L for sealers as required by certain California Air Pollution Control Districts, as well as the 400 g/L VOC maximum required by the U.S. EPA Architectural Coatings Rule.
USES
VOCOMP-20 water-based acrylic curing and
sealing compound may be quickly and easily
applied to simultaneously cure and/or seal new
interior or exterior as well as vertical or horizontal
concrete surfaces. It is ideal for application on
commercial and industrial floors, sidewalks,
basement and garage floors, multi-level parking
decks, patios, driveways and parking areas.
VOCOMP-20 dries very quickly to protect and
enhance the natural appearance of concrete.

COVERAGE
Coverage is approximately 300 ft.²/gal. (7.36 m²/
L). For optimum performance, an additional
application is recommended. Coverage may vary
due to porosity and condition of the concrete.
APPLICATION
Surface Preparation ... New Concrete: Apply
VOCOMP-20 when the surface water has
disappeared and the concrete surface will not be
marred by walking workmen.
Mixing … For optimum performance, gentle mixing or agitation is recommended. CAUTION: TO AVOID FOAMING, DO NOT MIX EXCESSIVELY.
Application Method … A typical commercial sprayer, such as a Chapin 1949 with a 5916 spray nozzle (or equivalent sprayer and nozzle), is recommended. The 5916 spray nozzle will produce a desired flow of 1/10th of one gallon per minute. VOCOMP-20 should be sprayed on in a fine, fog pattern, without spurts and dribbles, to form a thin, continuous film. AVOID PUDDLING in low areas… if puddles occur, brush or roll them out. VOCOMP-20 can also be applied using a lint-free roller or lambs wool applicator. Care should be taken to maintain a wet-edge during application to prevent roller marks in the dried film.
For added protection and a greater sheen on the concrete, an additional coat of VOCOMP-20, VOCOMP-25 or VOCOMP-30 may be applied after the first coat of VOCOMP-20 has thoroughly dried.
Proper application is the responsibility of the user. Field visits by W. R. MEADOWS personnel or their representatives are for the purpose of making technical recommendations only and not for supervising or providing quality control on the jobsite.
Drying Time ... VOCOMP-20 dries quickly. Drying times may be extended, depending on application rate, temperature, humidity and project conditions. Restrict foot traffic for at least four hours ... 12 hours is preferable.
Cleanup ... While VOCOMP-20 is still wet, equipment may be easily cleaned up with soap and water. Once dried, the material may be removed with a solvent, such as xylene or toluene.
PRECAUTIONS
KEEP FROM FREEZING. Do not apply VOCOMP-20 when air, material and/or surface temperatures are
expected to fall below 40º F (4º C) within four hours
of completed application. Do not mix or dilute with
any other products or liquids. VOCOMP-20 may be
applied to colored concrete, but mottling may occur.
Do not use on brick, stone, dense or other non-porous
surfaces. Concrete floors properly cured with
VOCOMP-20 meet section 8.9 “Adhesion of Tile
Cements” of ASTM C 1315. For other specifications,
secure the approval of the paint or resilient flooring
manufacturer before applying VOCOMP-20. The
specifier and user shall determine the suitability and
assume all responsibilities in connection therewith.
