APPLICATION
Surface Preparation … All surfaces to be coated must be clean, dry and dust, laitance and frost free. If necessary, it is recommended to clean the surface with oil-free solvent. All plastic surfaces may be cleaned with isopropanol.
Although no primer is needed prior to applying KNIGHTSHIELD KS-5600; however, it is recommended to conduct a quick field adhesion test prior to application, especially when applying to existing coatings or membranes. Please contact W. R. MEADOWS for direction.
Application Method … KNIGHTSHIELD KS-5600 is ready to use and requires no mixing or additives. Curing begins as soon as the flashing sealant is exposed to air.
At conditions of 77° F (25° C) and 50% relative humidity, a 1/8″ (3 mm) bead of flashing sealant will skin over in 5 – 10 minutes and fully cure in 24 hours, attaining full physical properties in seven days. Skin-over and cure time will vary with humidity. Cure time will also vary with the degree of confinement. Tooling, if necessary, should be done before skin over takes place.
