DESCRIPTION
MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE is a two-component, 100% solids, cold-applied, non-slump detailing material that can be used for a variety of applications in the MEL-ROL waterproofing system. MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE cures to form a tough, flexible membrane.
USES
MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE can be used in the forming of fillets and reinforcement at corners and as a flashing material.
FEATURES/BENEFITS
- 100% solids.
- Suitable for use underneath MEL-ROL membrane.
- Cures to a tough, flexible membrane.
PACKAGING
1 Gal. (3.78 L) Units
COVERAGE
20 – 25 ft.2/gal. (0.49 – 0.61 m²/L) @ 60 mils.
As a corner reinforcement and fillet, approximately 14 lineal ft./gal. (1.1 m/L). For a 3″ (76.2 mm) flashing, approximately 17 lineal ft./gal. (1.4 m/L). As a fillet, approximately 135 lineal ft./gal. (10.9 m/L).
Coverage dependent on substrate type, weather, and application conditions.
SHELF LIFE
When stored indoors in original, unopened containers at temperatures between 40° – 90° F (4° – 32° C), optimum performance and best use is obtained within two years of date of manufacture.

APPLICATION
Surface Preparation … All surfaces to be covered with MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE should be clean, free of all contaminants, dry, and frost-free.
Mixing … The entire amount of pre-measured activator should be poured into the base material and blended together. Mix with a slow speed, heavy-duty drill equipped with a flat mixing paddle. Start slowly to avoid splashing and mix for a minimum of five minutes. Be sure to scrape the sides and bottom periodically to assure complete blending.
Application Method … Trowel on MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE to a minimum thickness of 60 mils. MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE may be applied to both primed and unprimed concrete surfaces. Apply in 3″ (76.2 mm) or 4″ (101.6 mm) wide strips of material over terminations. When used as a corner reinforcement, apply a minimum of 6″ (152.4 mm) wide in each direction. When used as a fillet, the face should be a minimum of ¾” (19.1 mm). At drains and protrusions, MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE should overlap the MEL-ROL at a minimum of 2″ (50.8 mm) and should extend 6″ (152.4 mm) above the surface or to the top of the wearing course. If applying fresh material over the cured membrane, the cured membrane should be lightly washed and wiped with an aromatic solvent. Allow for a few minutes to dry and trowel on the fresh material. If applying fresh material over the cured membrane, the cured membrane should be lightly washed and wiped with an aromatic solvent. Allow for a few minutes to dry and trowel on the fresh material.
Curing Time … Mixed material must be applied in 1 ½ hours. (Application time will be shorter at elevated temperatures.) Discard material that begins to thicken and becomes difficult to apply. MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE will cure overnight to form a tough, flexible membrane.
Cleanup … Tools can be cleaned with an aromatic solvent. Follow manufacturer’s precautions when using a solvent for cleanup.
PRECAUTIONS
Do not mix partial units. Allow membrane to cure for 24 hours before flood testing. For easier mixing and application, store at temperatures of 60° F (15.6° C) or higher. Refer to Safety Data Sheet for complete health and safety information.
