CS-309™-OTC
Acrylic, Non-Yellowing Curing and Sealing Compound
DESCRIPTION
CS-309-OTC acrylic concrete curing and sealing compound is an acrylic polymer solution designed for freshly poured concrete. In addition to regular concrete, the product can also be used for decorative concrete needs. CS-309-OTC provides a tough, clear film that will not after-yellow. It also provides improved weather and stain resistance, combined with a dustproof sealer.
USES
CS-309-OTC is used on driveways, patios, loading docks, swimming pool areas, and exposed aggregate, as well as any exterior decorative surface where enhanced appearance, protection, and sealing of concrete is desired (dries to a low-medium sheen). (Higher gloss films can be achieved with additional applications.) CS-309-OTC offers improved resistance to rain, sun, freezing temperatures, stains, oil, grease, de-icing salts, cleaning agents (except aromatic solvents), and caustics, as well as airborne soot, dust, and other pollutants.
FEATURES/BENEFITS
- Specifically formulated to enhance the appearance of colored and architectural concrete.
- Permeable film allows moisture in cured concrete to evaporate.
- Provides a clear, tough, easy-to-clean film which improves abrasion and stain resistance.
- Ultraviolet stable; non-yellowing under extreme exposure.
- Offers improved resistance to rain, sun, freezing temperatures, oil, grease, de-icing salts, cleaning agents (except aromatic solvents), caustics, airborne soot, dust, and other pollutants.
- Offers excellent foot or vehicular traffic wearing qualities.
- Applies easily … dries quickly for less down time.
- Concrete cured with CS-309-OTC can later be painted (consult reputable paint manufacturer for compatibility) or covered with resilient flooring or carpeting, if desired.
- Dried film is USDA accepted.
- VOC compliant.

APPLICATION
Surface Preparation
Fresh (New) Concrete … Apply as soon as all surface water has disappeared and the concrete surface will not be marred by walking workers.
Application Method … Use a sprayer or short-nap roller to apply a uniform film. Avoid puddling in low areas. If puddles occur, brush or roll them out. A standard industrial-grade sprayer, such as a Chapin 19069, equipped with Viton fittings and a spray nozzle that produces a flow of 0.5 GPM (1.9 LPM) under 40 psi (0.276 MPa) of pressure, is recommended. Apply over the entire surface; avoid puddling in low areas.
For ultimate protection on new concrete, use the W. R. MEADOWS complete curing-and-sealing system. First, apply a uniform film of CS-309-OTC as soon as possible after the surface water has disappeared and the concrete surface will not be marred by walking workers. After this first application has thoroughly dried, then apply TIAH® OTC from W. R. MEADOWS using a sprayer or short-nap roller. This combination will create a superior, durable, long-lasting surface. If future reapplication of a sealer is required, use TIAH OTC or TIAH 100 from W. R. MEADOWS.
Mixing … For optimum performance, gentle mixing or agitation is recommended. CAUTION: TO AVOID FOAMING, DO NOT MIX EXCESSIVELY.
Drying Time … Product dries quickly. Drying times will vary depending on application rate, temperature, humidity, and project conditions. Restrict foot traffic for at least four hours. Twelve hours is preferable.
Cleanup … Clean tools after use with a solvent such as xylene, toluene, or SEALTIGHT CLEANER from W. R. MEADOWS.
PRECAUTIONS
FOR OUTSIDE/EXTERIOR APPLICATION ONLY. CS-309-OTC IS FLAMMABLE. KEEP AWAY FROM ALL OPEN FLAMES, SPARKS, IGNITION SOURCES, etc. Use with adequate ventilation and block all HVAC ventilation ducts which may spread product vapors – vapors are flammable and heavier than air. For existing, aged or cured concrete, TIAH OTC or TIAH 100 is recommended. If product odors are objectionable, W. R. MEADOWS recommends using a water-based product, such as DECRA-SEAL™ W/B or any of the VOCOMP® series products. CS-309-OTC must be applied without diluting or thinning. Surfaces treated with CS-309-OTC may become slippery under certain conditions. To increase slip resistance, addition of SURE-STEP™ from W. R. MEADOWS is recommended.
CS-309-OTC should not be applied in direct sunlight, or in high temperature conditions. These conditions cause rapid evaporation, preventing proper film formation, which may cause the dried film to peel, bubble, become hazy, and/or turn white (blush). Surface temperature of the concrete must be between 40° – 90° F (4° – 32° C) at time of application to allow for proper film formation.
CS-309-OTC should not be applied to concrete exposed to excessive moisture. Entrapped moisture in a solvent-based sealer may cause the film to peel and/or turn white (blush). Improper or over-application may cause the dried CS-309-OTC film to appear hazy and/or white.
Product may be used on colored concrete, but mottling may occur. Do not use on dense or non-porous surfaces, i.e. brick, stone, etc. Concrete containing calcium chloride will remain dark longer when treated with this product. Concrete floors properly sealed with CS-309-OTC meet the requirements of ASTM C1315, Section 8.8 – Adhesion, for ceramic tile adhesives per ANSI A 136.1-1992 requirements. For any other specifications, applications, installations, etc., please obtain approval for use from the manufacturer of the subsequent product/treatment being applied. These products may include, but are not limited to adhesives, mortars, tile cements, paints, coatings, penetrating treatments, etc. The specifier and user shall determine the suitability of product for specific applications and assume all responsibility in connection therewith.
In states that have VOC regulations rules written based on the OTC Phase II model for architectural coatings, this product is prohibited from use on existing, aged, or cured concrete as a sealer, but still permissible for use on fresh concrete as a concrete curing and sealing compound.
