PENCURE™ OTC
Proprietary, Dual-Action, Acrylic Curing and Sealing Compound
DESCRIPTION
PENCURE OTC is a unique, dual-action, non-yellowing, acrylic, concrete curing and sealing compound containing silane. PENCURE OTC is intended for use on fresh concrete only. The product is clear, transparent, and easy to apply. PENCURE OTC simultaneously forms a membrane for optimum moisture retention; its unique formulation, containing silane, also allows the product to chemically react and reduce the intrusion of water and salts into the concrete.
USES
PENCURE OTC is designed for fresh, broomed finish, exterior concrete, such as driveways, patios, parking lots, sidewalks, etc.
FEATURES/BENEFITS
- Unique dual-action formulation – cures freshly placed concrete and reduces the intrusion of water and salt penetration.
- Single-step application.
- Breathable film allows moisture in cured concrete to evaporate.
- Provides a clear membrane that will not yellow.
- Provides low-gloss appearance.
- Minimizes hair checking, cracking, dusting, spalling, and other defects common to improperly cured or uncured concrete.
- VOC compliant.

TECHNICAL DATA
VOC Content: 331 g/L
APPLICATION
Surface Preparation … Apply a single coat of PENCURE OTC as soon as all surface water has disappeared and the concrete surface will not be marred by walking workers.
Application Method … Use a sprayer or short-nap roller to apply a uniform film. A standard industrial-grade sprayer, such as a Chapin 19069, with a fan spray pattern nozzle that produces a flow of 0.5 GPM (1.9 LPM) under 40 psi (0.276 MPa) of pressure (or equivalent) is recommended. Apply over entire surface. Avoid puddling in low areas. If puddles occur, brush or roll them out. The application temperature must be between 50° – 90° F (10° – 32.2° C) at time of application.
For ultimate beauty and sheen on new concrete, use TIAH® or TIAH OTC from W. R. MEADOWS after application of PENCURE OTC. Seven days after the first application of PENCURE OTC, apply TIAH or TIAH OTC using a sprayer or short-nap roller. This combination will create a superior, high-sheen, aesthetically pleasing surface. If future reapplication of a sealer is required, use TIAH or TIAH OTC.
Mixing … For optimum performance, gentle mixing or agitation is recommended. CAUTION: TO AVOID FOAMING, DO NOT MIX EXCESSIVELY.
Drying Time … Product dries quickly. Drying times will vary depending on application rate, temperature, humidity, and project conditions. Restrict foot traffic for at least four hours. Twelve hours is preferable.
Cleanup … Clean tools after use with a solvent such as xylene, toluene, or SEALTIGHT CLEANER from W. R. MEADOWS.
PRECAUTIONS
FOR OUTSIDE/EXTERIOR APPLICATION ONLY. PENCURE OTC IS FLAMMABLE. KEEP AWAY FROM ALL OPEN FLAMES, SPARKS, IGNITION SOURCES, etc. Use with adequate ventilation and block all HVAC ventilation ducts which may spread product vapors – vapors are flammable and heavier than air. Surfaces treated with PENCURE may become slippery under certain conditions.
Application temperature must be between 50° F (10˚ C) and rising – 90° F (32.2˚ C) and falling at time of application to allow for proper film formation.
PENCURE OTC should not be applied to concrete exposed to excessive moisture. Improper or over-application may cause the dried PENCURE OTC film to appear hazy and/or white.
Do not use on dense or non-porous surfaces, i.e. brick, stone, etc. Not intended for use on densely troweled concrete. Do not use on decorative concrete surfaces. Concrete containing calcium chloride will remain dark longer when treated with this product. To prevent damage, quickly clean spills of solvent, gasoline, brake fluid, or other staining materials.
Apply only one coat; never apply additional coats. Do not use on joints or channels that will receive elastomeric caulks.
Make sure to use a sprayer compatible with extreme chemicals, such as the Chapin 19069 3.5-Gallon Xtreme Stainless Steel Concrete Open Head Sprayer. The chemicals in PENCURE OTC will attack the seals and gaskets in standard sprayers so a chemical-resistant sprayer is required.
