ULTRITE® COATING REMOVER
DESCRIPTION
ULTRITE COATING REMOVER is an easy-to-use, soy-gel coating remover. This gel-type product effectively removes topical sealers, acrylics, latex, urethanes, enamels, some epoxies, and other single-component coatings. ULTRITE COATING REMOVER is safe, low-odor, and non-caustic.
The use of ULTRITE COATING REMOVER is the first step of a two-step coating removal process. The second step utilizes ULTRITE CLEANER from W. R. MEADOWS. ULTRITE CLEANER is used to remove the residues left from ULTRITE COATING REMOVER. For more details, refer to ULTRITE CLEANER #353-B data sheet.
USES
When properly applied, ULTRITE COATING REMOVER will remove a wide range of one-part topical coatings such as curing and sealing compounds acrylic sealer, polyurethanes, etc. The product can be applied to a variety of surfaces, including concrete, masonry, wood, and metal. The product is ideal for use in warehouses, industrial plants, food processing plants, schools, automotive plants, parking garages, plazas, and service stations.

APPLICATION
Application Method … Protect vegetation from product, splash, residue, and wind drift. Apply a thick, even layer of ULTRITE COATING REMOVER on the coating being removed. On horizontal surfaces, ULTRITE COATING REMOVER can be applied by rolling, brushing, squeegee, or airless sprayer. For large projects and vertical applications, use a commercial airless sprayer with a 0.019″ – 0.021″ (0.48 – .53 mm) nozzle and a spray rate of at least 2500 psi (17.2 MPa). An airless sprayer is the most effective way of applying ULTRITE COATING REMOVER.
ULTRITE COATING REMOVER must be applied 1.5 – 2 times thicker than the coating to be removed. The time needed for penetration of ULTRITE COATING REMOVER will vary depending on the type of coating and climatic conditions. Depending on type of coating, it may take up to 24 hours for proper softening and removal. A typical ASTM C309, Class B and/or ASTM C1315 sealer usually takes one hour for proper softening before removal, depending on application thickness.
The product should be kept moist once applied; do not allow product to dry. When used outdoors, cover material with 2-mil or thicker plastic to help keep the product wet and working.
Very thick and multiple-layer coatings may require a re-application of ULTRITE COATING REMOVER for proper removal.
Use a scraper to check if the coating is softened down to the surface. If not, wait longer and recheck. When the coating is completely softened, remove with a scraper, squeegee, or pressure wash. Material removed can be landfill-disposed when completely dry (no free liquids). Consideration must be given to the substrate/coating removed.
Always apply a test area prior to full scale application to determine coverage rate, suitability of the product for the coating and substrate and time needed for the coating to be removed.
Substrate surface becomes extremely slippery after removal of the softened coating and ULTRITE COATING REMOVER. Once the softened coating and ULTRITE COATING REMOVER have been removed, ULTRITE CLEANER from W. R. MEADOWS and a final water rinse should be used to clean off remaining residue. Allow surface to dry before further preparations.
ULTRITE CLEANER DIRECTIONS
APPLICATION
Surface Preparation … Scrape off ULTRITE COATING REMOVER and softened coating from the surface before cleaning with ULTRITE CLEANER.
Application Method … Protect vegetation, painted, stained and alkaline-sensitive surfaces from product, splash, residue, and wind drift. Apply ULTRITE CLEANER with a mop, broom, or sprayer. Allow the product to stay on the surface for 3-5 minutes before agitating with a brush or a mop. Rinse thoroughly with water. Using a pressure washer where possible is recommended for more effective results. Repeat the process as necessary. Do not allow the product to dry. Two rounds of cleaning is recommended for optimum results.
PRECAUTIONS
Keep from freezing. Surface becomes extremely slippery after removal of softened coatings and ULTRITE COATING REMOVER. ULTRITE CLEANER must be used to clean the surface and help reduce adhesion failure of subsequent coatings/treatments. Prior to application of subsequent coatings and/or treatments, ensure that there are no residues left from the ULTRITE COATING REMOVER and/or ULTRITE CLEANER application.
Do not use on PVC, drywall, limestone, plastic, veneer, terrazzo tile, or rubber. ULTRITE COATING REMOVER will destroy latex over time. After product application, rubber hoses of application equipment must be cleaned as the product will attack and damage the rubber. The product should be kept moist once applied; do not allow product to dry.
Failure to use ULTRITE CLEANER after ULTRITE COATING REMOVER will result in a hazardous, slippery surface.
