CATALYTIC BONDING ASPHALT
Cutback Bonding Asphalt
CATALYTIC BONDING ASPHALT is a cutback bonding asphalt specifically formulated for use with PREMOULDED MEMBRANE® VAPOR SEAL with PLASMATIC® CORE (PMPC). It is a non-setting bitumen with an extremely low oxidation rate. It imparts permanent expansion and contraction characteristics to PMPC without destroying its capability to function as a monolithic vapor barrier.
Use with PMPC at the overlap areas when the material is installed horizontally using the Dutch-lap method. CATALYTIC BONDING ASPHALT may also be used as a mastic grout around soil pipes, water inlets, and steel rods.
- Allows movement without breaking bond.
5 Gal. (18.93 L) Pails
Approximately 5 gal./1000 ft.2 (18.9 L/93 m²) of PMPC when installed with a 6″ (152.4 mm) side and head lap.
When stored indoors in original, unopened containers at temperatures between 40° – 90° F (4° – 32° C), shelf life is one year from date of manufacture.
VOC Content: 182 g/L
Mixing … CATALYTIC BONDING ASPHALT is premixed and ready for application direct from the container. DO NOT DILUTE.
Surface Preparation … CATALYTIC BONDING ASPHALT is intended for use to seal membrane-to-membrane overlap joints. Lap areas to be sealed must be dry and clean of dust, dirt, and other foreign substances.
Application Method … CATALYTIC BONDING ASPHALT can be applied with a stiff brush or an ordinary trowel. NOTE: Use appropriate ventilation to keep exposure levels below permissible limits when utilizing on interior applications. Exterior applications generally do not require additional ventilation.
Do not use as an adhesive on vertical surfaces. Read and follow application information, precautions, and SDS information.
