EVAPRE to Control Evaporation in Hot and Dry Conditions
With summer right around the corner, extra precautions must be taken to avoid concrete damage from hot and dry conditions during curing. When moisture is evaporated too quickly from newly poured concrete, significant shrinkage and cracking will occur. Warm temperatures, low humidity, and wind all contribute to accelerated evaporation rates. EVAPRE evaporation retardant is a high quality, cost-effective, water-based compound specifically designed to effectively reduce the rate of surface evaporation. EVAPRE forms a thin monomolecular film to reduce rapid moisture loss from the concrete surfaces prior to curing, giving newly poured concrete the time needed to gain sufficient strength to…

It is an excellent product choice for horizontal and vertical waterproofing applications, such as the…
Protect your structure from harmful Radon
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that is formed by the breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and groundwater. It is a colorless and odorless gas that moves freely through the soil and in enclosed spaces, such as buildings, it can accumulate resulting in high concentrations. Radon can enter buildings through cracks in foundation walls and floors, and any gaps around pipes and cables. Radon exposure is known to cause an increased risk of developing lung cancer and is the second leading cause of lung cancer behind smoking. As a result, maximum exposure limits have been established around the…
ASTM E 2178 Standards Explained
The use of the proper air barrier material is an integral part of achieving a resilient and efficient building by protecting it from unwanted air and water penetration. In order for this necessary protection to take place, it is critical that the material be fully tested to ensure that it is able to perform in the environment that it is going to be exposed to. It is key that the selected air barrier material has low air permeance and high resistance. The most common test method to ensure this is ASTM E2178, the Standard Test Method for Air Permeance of…

Read our new Airbus case study!
The first-ever Airbus manufacturing facility in the U.S. was waterproofed using products from W. R. Meadows. We’re proud of this fact and our newest case study relays the facts in this unique application. One of the biggest hurdles to overcome was the fact that the site of this project, Mobile, Alabama, is the rainiest city in the U.S. Obviously, high quality waterproofing materials were needed to ensure that moisture did not intrude the structure and the architect and contractor team decided upon our Precon, Perminator, and Mel-Drain products. As the September 2015 grand opening of the Airbus plant – which…

Hot-Weather Guideline: Repair Mortars and Non-Shrink Grouts
As hot weather hits, constructors need to adapt to the hot-weather conditions that my impact the installation of construction materials. Many materials act differently in hot weather as to cold, and certain precautions and steps should be taken to ensure a successful installation. At W. R. Meadows, many of our products are impacted by climatic conditions and concrete repair products, in particular, must be applied carefully in the summer months. To make this process easier, and to help educate and inform our clients, we’ve developed a number of installation guidelines to help make installations error-free. Our hot-weather guideline for our…
